OUR LANDS, OUR BODIES, OUR RIGHTS:
A Feminist Report on Discrimination, Corporate Abuse,

and Climate Injustice in Thailand

June 2025

In May 2025, Manushya Foundation—together with a coalition of grassroots, Indigenous, women-led, and LGBTQIA+ organizations—including the Indigenous Women’s Network of Thailand (IWNT), Green World Network, Sab Wai Villagers, Phichit Villagers, Ka Boe Din Villagers, Young Pride Club Foundation, EMPOWER Foundation, Women Workers for Justice Group, and the Migrant Working Group—submitted a Joint Civil Society Shadow Report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The report titled “Our Land, Our Bodies, Our Rights: A Feminist Report on Discrimination, Corporate Abuse, and Climate Injustice in Thailand”, responds to Thailand’s 8th Periodic Report and exposes the systemic discrimination and structural inequalities faced by women and LGBTQIA+ communities across the country.

Grounded in community-led data, direct testimonies, and lived experiences, the report brings to light urgent issues—from corporate exploitation and climate injustice to the criminalization of sex work, barriers to nationality, and the silencing of women human rights defenders. It reveals how State and corporate actors frequently prioritize profit and power over people and the planet—often working in tandem to suppress dissent and marginalize those most at risk.

The report underscores Thailand’s failure to fulfill its CEDAW obligations and offers concrete, rights-based recommendations rooted in the voices of affected communities. As the CEDAW Committee reviews Thailand’s record at its 91st Session (16 June – 4 July 2025), we call on the international community to stand with the women and LGBTQIA+ people most impacted by inequality, exclusion, and injustice—and to hold the Thai government accountable.
