JOINT CIVIL SOCIETY STATEMENT:

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROTOCOL OF 2014

TO THE FORCED LABOUR CONVENTION

Manushya Foundation and the Thai BHR Network join a total of 43 civil society organizations and trade unions in calling on the Royal Thai Government to align its national legislation with the ILO Protocol of 2014 to the Forced Labour Convention (P29), by enacting and implementing a law to stop forced labour, consistent with the definition laid out in the Forced Labour Convention, and imposing criminal penalties on violators. The joint CSO statement further urges the Royal Thai Government to not give in to National Fisheries Association of Thailand (NFAT) and fishing boat operators' pressure and abuses.

This Joint Statement in English and Thai language can also be accessed on Environment Justice Foundation website here.
