Covid-19 & the Political Awakening of Youth in Thailand - A call for Democracy, Equality & Justice!

We are finally in 2021 and we are excited to see what this year will bring! But before we get started, let’s rewind back a little and remember 2020, the year that has brought changes like we had never expected.

COVID-19 had made the year 2020 unprecedented on a global scale and its impact would undoubtedly be far more reaching than just a few years to come.

However, for Thailand, 2020 was made especially remarkable and memorable by the large scale political movement of the youth. The pro-democracy movement led by the youth in 2020 was the largest protest movement since the 2014 Thai coup d'état.

Let us remember what happened and what had prompted so many people to defy the restrictive regulations of the military-backed government and bravely stood for their belief. Let us remember what this pro-democracy movement stands for. Let us remember that we are standing up for equality, justice, and true democracy.

2020 was truly a challenging year for everyone but it had also brought new changes and hope for a better future for many. 2021 will undoubtedly continue to challenge us in many aspects but as 2020 has proved to us, we have the will and the capacity to withstand it. And we will continue to stand up and fight for our better future no matter what.
