Thailand accepted 7 of the 12 LGBTI+ specific recommendations it received during its 3rd UPR cycle. Five recommendations were noted, particularly those calling for same-sex marriage recognition and the enactment of a legal gender recognition. Despite marriage equality laws, Thailand lacks legal gender recognition, comprehensive anti-discrimination protections, and safeguards across employment, education, healthcare, detention, and digital spaces.
