JOINT MEDIA STATEMENT: REGARDING SOLUTIONS TO UPHOLD HUMAN RIGHTS IN ADECCO NEW PETCHBURI CO. LTD. AND  THAI SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO. LTD.'S SUPPLY CHAINS

AFTER A DISCRIMINATION CASE WAS REPORTED

On 20 September 2019, Manushya Foundation co-signed with Adecco New Petchburi Co., Ltd,  Thai Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT) a Joint Media Statement regarding solutions to uphold human rights in the companies’ supply chains, after discriminatory actions were reported in the hiring process against Ms. Pairie perpetrated by Adecco New Petchburi Co., Ltd, for Thai Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd..

 

On 18 September 2019, the representatives from the two companies met with Ms. Pairie to apologize to her for the incident occurred.

 

Moreover, the meeting created a platform for constructive and frank engagement between the companies and Ms. Pairie, along with representatives from the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand and the Manushya Foundation to discuss remedy for Ms. Pairie, as well as to stress on the importance and necessity for both companies to conduct meaningful stakeholder engagement and enforce human rights due diligence in line with global standards, in order to strengthen diversity and inclusion culture in the workplace.  

Manushya Foundation will work together with the two companies and Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT) to develop human rights based curriculum for employees at all levels, followed by workshops on the ground throughout the companies’ supply chains.
