🚨 Big News: Thailand's Equal Marriage Act Set to Take Effect in 120 Days! 🚨‎

A historic milestone for LGBTQIAN+ rights in Thailand! The Equal Marriage Act has just been published in the Royal Gazette, officially paving the way for marriage equality. Starting from January 22, 2025, this groundbreaking law will ensure that all couples, regardless of gender, can marry and enjoy the same legal rights and protections. 🎉💍

Here’s what this new law means:‎

✨ Marriage for Everyone: The law no longer restricts legal marriage to only a ‘man and woman,’ and has adopted gender-neutral terms to describe unions instead, such as ‘spouses’ rather than ‘husband and wife.’

✨ Minimum Age for Marriage: The legal age for engagement and marriage has been raised from 17 to 18 years, ensuring that the law aligns with international standards on child protection.

✨ Joint Adoption Rights: Couples, regardless of gender, will have the right to jointly adopt children, offering new possibilities for family life and parenthood for all.

✨ Marriage with Foreign Nationals: Thai citizens can now register marriages with foreign nationals using Thai law, further expanding marriage rights.

✨ Additional Legal Protections: The law also includes the right for couples to claim compensation and lays out grounds for divorce, giving all couples equal access to legal protections.

‎This marks a monumental shift in the country’s legal landscape, bringing Thailand closer to full equality for all its citizens. It’s a major victory for human rights, love, and the LGBTQIAN+ community!

📅 Save the date: January 22, 2025, when this law officially comes into effect!
