🕯️“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

⚫ 50 years ago today, state forces and right-wing paramilitary groups violently attacked students and activists at Thammasat University for demanding a more democratic and just society. Unarmed students, workers, activists, and grassroots organisers were beaten, lynched, sexually violated, and killed. Their “crime” was refusing to accept a society where power belongs to elites rather than the people.

🕊️For five decades, silence, erasure, and impunity have shaped how 6 October is remembered. But memory is not passive. To remember #6ตุลา is to honour those who were killed, confront the structures that enabled the violence, and refuse the rewriting of history.

✊Half a century later today, state power continues to be used against protesters, human rights defenders, young people, women, queer communities, and frontline organisers who challenge injustice. The struggle for dignity, freedom and justice is not confined to the past.

📢 We call on the Thai government and authorities to end human rights violations, uphold the rights of protesters, and ensure everyone can exercise their fundamental freedoms safely and without fear.

🔥 Remember. Resist. Reclaim.

The struggle continues.
