94 years since the Siamese Revolution, when Siam ended absolute monarchy and became Thailand with a constitutional monarchy. 📍 But is Thailand a REAL democracy now?

🙅🏽‍♀️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗯𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗡𝗢. Thailand has become a SLAPPs hub, where people who criticise the monarchy's political role and its obstruction of the democratic process end up being expelled or even arrested on Lèse-Majesté charges.

A country cannot call itself democratic while people are punished for exercising their right to freedom of expression. A democracy without accountability is not democracy. A constitution without people’s power is not freedom.

📣 As decolonial and intersectional feminists, we want a real democracy where everyone is guaranteed their human rights and treated as equal human beings! Power MUST be returned into the hands of the People!

✊🏾 We stand in solidarity with pro-democracy activists, youth movements, frontline communities, and civil society groups who continue to defend freedom and democracy against all forms of authoritarian power.

The promise of 1932 is not over. The people’s struggle continues. 🔥
