🚨ALL EYES ON INDONESIA 🚨

𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲. 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 — 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱!

⚫ On 25 August, democracy protests erupted to expose the government’s austerity policies. People are demanding dignity and equality, after parliament rewarded itself with lavish perks — including a Rp 50 million/month housing stipend (USD 3,100) — while ordinary Indonesians struggle to survive on minimum wages.

💔 On 28 August, 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻, a 21 ojol (motorcycle taxi) driver, was killed during a protest after being struck and dragged beneath a police armored vehicle. His death was broadcast everywhere — exposing police brutality to the world.

⚫ That same day, the authorities 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮, banning journalists from reporting on protests and violence.

⚫ With no witnesses left, 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱.

⚫ The Chief of Police has authorized the use of 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀.
