Close the #GenderPayGap! ✊🏽 Women work more, but are valued and paid far less.

This #InternationalEqualPayDay, we are calling out an injustice that has been normalised for far too long. At the global average, women need to work 13 extra minutes for every hour men work to earn the same total income. Across a standard working week, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣

𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨.

🌏 In Southeast Asia, the wage gap persists alongside a deeper theft of women’s time. Across ASEAN countries with available data, women spend more than twice as much time as men on unpaid care and domestic work.

𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲.

📣 We call on governments and employers to enforce equal pay for work of equal value, mandate pay transparency, invest in public care services, guarantee paid parental leave for all parents, and recognise, reduce and redistribute unpaid care work.
