On 21 September 2025, tens of thousands of Filipinos filled the streets, demanding an end to 𝗸𝗹𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲.

💸 Between 2023–2025, at least $𝟮.𝟭 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻. Greenpeace warns it may be closer to $𝟭𝟴 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻. While politicians enriched themselves, families were left defenseless: homes flooded, harvests lost, children wading through water.

The date carries heavy history: 53 years ago, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. declared Martial Law. Today, under Marcos Jr., people see the same story: stolen wealth, stolen democracy, stolen futures.

✊🏽 Yet the people resist. From Rizal Park to EDSA, they marched peacefully, invoking the spirit of the 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. But the state responded with repression: 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗴𝗮𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀. Over 100 people were detained, including youth and activists.

🏴 Amid the placards, the 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 flag stood out: a youth symbol of defiance against corrupt rulers. Popular culture became a weapon of resistance, echoing recent 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵-𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 in 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 and 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It is:🌍 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 — because corruption kills when funds for protection are stolen.⚖️ 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 — because people demand truth, accountability, and an end to kleptocracy.💖 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 — because it is women, youth, farmers, Indigenous and marginalized communities who pay the heaviest price.

🤝  It’s about 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 — Filipinos standing strong against kleptocracy, inspiring movements across the Global South.
