Four Years of Injustice, Four Years Too Long. Bring Home Dang Dinh Bach!

Four years ago today, environmental defender Dang Dinh Bach was unjustly sentenced to prison in Vietnam. He was taken from his home when his newborn son was just 2 weeks old and has not seen him since.

For over 20 years, Bach dedicated himself to protecting Vietnam's environment: championing legal reforms, advocating for vulnerable communities, advancing Vietnam's path to a just energy transition.

As Vietnam prepares to celebrate Tết Lunar New Year on February 17, the Year of the Horse symbolizing freedom, strength, and generosity, we call on Vietnamese leaders to extend the same spirit of clemency and compassion to Bach and his family.

As the Tết holiday approaches, a time of togetherness and renewal, we hold hope for Bach’s reunion with his loved ones.

Defending the environment is not a crime. Let this year bring Bach home. ✊
