#FreeNgoThiToNhien Vietnam’s Just Energy Transition is not “Just” without the freedom of their climate leaders 🌏✊

🧑‍⚖️ Ngo Thi To Nhien, Executive Director of VIETSE; a think tank working on policy research for implementing Vietnam’s Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

📃 She is the 6th climate leader to be arrested since 2021. Her arrest comes after other prominent climate activists like Ding Dang Bach who was arrested three years ago and indicted and silenced over tax evasion allegations. 

🔇 Vietnam’s growing trend of silencing activists is worrying, and contradicts their JETP partnership, where they agreed to work with CSOS and media on policy transition. G7 and EU leaders who are funding the partnership need to stress the importance of respecting human rights. 

🆓 We call for the immediate release of Ngo Thi To Nhien!
