🚨 𝙃𝙐𝙈𝘼𝙉 𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏𝙎 𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝙏 ‼️Journalist Bai Zhaodong is at risk of being forcibly returned to China, where he faces grave threats to his life!

⚖️ #StopTransnationalRepression | On 9 October, a Thai court will decide on the legality of Chinese investigative journalist’s months-long immigration detention in Bangkok.

Bai should already be safe. He is recognised as a refugee by UNHCR, and a third country has already accepted him for resettlement… yet Thailand blocked his flight 𝙩𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙚. Now China wants him extradited.
⚠️ If returned, Bai faces political persecution, enforced disappearance and torture.
🚫 Bai’s case is not isolated. Thailand is pushing him through the same transnational repression playbook seen in the cases of Chinese dissidents Tan Yixiang, Zhang Xinyan and Zhou Junyi: detention, obstructed escape and the threat of forced return.
Returning him would not be immigration enforcement. It would be refoulement, and Thailand delivering a journalist back to the authoritarian state that persecuted him, in violation of Thailand’s own Anti-Torture Law.
📢 We urge Thai authorities: Release Bai. Halt his extradition. Let him reach safety.
