Thailand’s human rights story must be told by the people living its consequences.

On 19-21 October, nearly 50 grassroots defenders, activists and community representatives came together in Bangkok to ensure their realities could no longer be spoken about without them.

🎙️ Through our UPR IV Media Training Workshop and Press Conference, communities strengthened their skills to tell their own stories, faced the media in their own voices, and brought evidence of corporate exploitation, state impunity, discrimination and shrinking civic space into public view.

This was the result of a year-long feminist movement-building process across Thailand, bringing together Indigenous women, workers, environmental defenders, LGBTIQ+ activists, communities from Patani and many more, culminating in 28 community-led advocacy factsheets carrying their realities and demands ahead of Thailand’s UN human rights review on 9 November (Fourth Universal Periodic Review Cycle or UPR IV).

From grassroots resistance to global accountability, the people most affected must be the ones shaping the narrative and the solutions. 🔥
