#StopTransnationalRepression โ๐ฝ๐น๐ญ Thailand, stop doing Beijingโs dirty work. You already sent 40 Uyghur men back to danger. Do not send two more.

Two Uyghur men detained in Thailand since 2014, one since childhood, now face forced return to China, where they risk torture and enforced disappearance. Following royal pardons, Thai authorities transferred them to Suan Phlu Immigration Detention Centre on 21 October. Their lawyers have been denied access since.

On 27 February 2025, Thailand forcibly returned 40 Uyghur men despite repeated warnings. We condemned this at Manushya as transnational repression in action. A year later, UN experts reported that their fate, health and whereabouts remained unknown.

โ ๏ธ A royal pardon must not become a pathway to persecution.
โ ๏ธ Friendship with Beijing does not override human rights.
โ ๏ธ Immigration enforcement must never become a delivery service for repression.
As Thailand approaches its UN human rights review on 9 November, forcibly returning these men would expose the gulf between its international pledges and its continued treatment of Uyghurs as expendable in its relationship with China.ย
We demand that the Thai Government halt any forced return, allow immediate access to lawyers and UNHCR, and facilitate safe resettlement. Protect all five Uyghur men still detained in Thailand.
The Thai authorities will bear responsibility if they knowingly send these men back to danger.
