#WhatsHappeningInThailand 🇹🇭🏳️‍🌈Why are people living with HIV being denied care at Wat Phra Baht Nam Phu? Who decides whose life is worth supporting?

🚨This is what happened in Thailand, when one of the country’s most well-known temples — once celebrated for opening its doors to HIV patients — is now imposing barriers that deny care to those most in need, including LGBTQ+ people.

A prominent religious scholar revealed that the temple’s policy has shifted dramatically from 10–20 years ago, now requiring strict documentation and excluding patients with certain mental health conditions or histories of drug use. In one case, a relative of an HIV-positive LGBTQ+ person offered a 25,000 baht admission fee to secure care — only to be told: “Not accepting, not convenient.” No explanation. No compassion.

✊🏽As Decolonial Intersectional Feminists, we believe that healthcare is a human right — not a privilege for those who meet arbitrary conditions. No one should be denied dignity, care, or the chance to live because of their HIV status, gender identity, mental health, or personal circumstances.

📢 Stand with us: Speak out. Share this post. Demand that Wat Phra Baht Nam Phu, and all healthcare providers, uphold the right to health for all, without discrimination.
