๐ As sad as it is, in a world that wants you to spread yourself thin in service of others and the capitalist machine, caring for yourself has become a radical act. When the world often forces you to keep calm and carry on to get your deliverables done, it can be very difficult to make time for yourself.
๐โโ๏ธ Our current cultural climate also promotes unhealthy levels of guilt, shame, ignorance toward oneโs own needs, detachment from feeling our feelings, and putting all this aside to take care of yourself is somehow โselfishโ or โself-indulgent.โ
๐ญ This framing ultimately harms everyone. If we cannot take care of ourselves, we cannot effectively care for others, anyway - and this causes isolation and division in our society.
โ We must make a change! In the words of Black lesbian activist Audre Lorde, โcaring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.โ We have been thinking a lot aboutย #Visibilityย of marginalised communities thisย #PrideMonth. We need radical self-preservation, and to keep ourselves thriving, in order for us to have trueย #Visibilityย andย #Freedom!
๐๏ธ Make sure you take a moment today, and every day, to take care of yourself.

Itโs true that in a world constantly pushing us to overextend ourselves, choosing rest and self-care often feels like resistance. The guilt tied to prioritizing our needs only deepens the struggle, yet ignoring them leaves us drained and disconnected. Just as Audre Lorde reminds us, caring for ourselves is survival, not indulgence. Whether itโs reclaiming time for mental peace or even deciding to get homework writing services to ease academic pressure, radical self-preservation is what keeps us strong, visible, and capable of uplifting others.
