On 18 June, Manushya’s Founder Emilie Pradichit courageously addressed the CEDAW Committee Members to expose the reality WHRDs in Thailand face: transnational repression in the form of abductions, threats, enforced disappearances, and even killings. She also shared our team’s own experiences of being targeted for protecting these women.
For speaking truth to power, these women from neighboring authoritarian regimes are forced to flee their homes… only to face renewed danger, instead of sanctuary, in Thailand.

Thanks to Manushya’s persistent lobbying and the bravery of WHRDs who refuse to be silenced, CEDAW issued landmark recommendations in July 2025, obliging the Thai government to provide stronger protections for women defenders! 🎉

✊ This victory belongs to all women activists! It is your courage and struggle for justice that fuels our work.

💭 What exactly did the CEDAW recommend? And what does it actually mean for WHRDs in Thailand? Stay tuned this Friday on #WomenHumanRightsDay. We’ll show you the legally-binding wins that will protect women activists in exile in Thailand.
