In an interview with Valentin Cebron for La Croix, published on 24 February, Emilie Palamy Pradichit, Lao woman human rights defender and Founder & Executive Director of Manushya Foundation, raises the flag on a deeply alarming pattern in Laos:

āž”ļø Enforced disappearances

āž”ļø Deaths labeled as ā€œaccidentsā€ under suspicious circumstances

āž”ļø Total absence of independent investigations

As Emilie Palamy underscored, the repetition of these cases is not random. It is creating a pervasive climate of fear and insecurity for anyone who dares to speak out.

🚨 Mr. Khaen, who used his online platform to challenge government corruption, is the most recent victim of the Lao state’s repression. Recent developments in his disappearance, now death, raise serious concerns of intimidation tactics against his family. These are seemingly aimed at silencing them and shutting down calls for truth and accountability.

This pattern must not be normalized!

We reiterate our call:

We demand truth and accountability from the Lao state!

Justice for Mr. Khaen! ✊
