📢 At Manushya Foundation, we joined ESCR-Net in a new submission to the UN Special Rapporteur on Climate Change 🇺🇳: “Exposing the Human Rights Cost of ‘Green’ Energy”
🚨 What’s the reality? The rush for renewable energy is fueling displacement, land grabbing, pollution, and violence. From child labor in Congo’s cobalt mines to toxic rare earth mining in Laos, frontline communities are paying the price for the Global Minority’s energy transition.
🇱🇦 In Laos, Manushya highlighted: 📍 Heavy metal contamination from rare earth mining 📍 Hydropower dams displacing Indigenous and rural communities 📍 No FPIC, no compensation, no accountability 📍 Human rights defenders harassed for speaking the truth
📣 We call for:
✅ Mandatory human rights & environmental due diligence
✅ Strong protections for Indigenous rights & sovereignty
✅ Community-led climate policies rooted in justice
✅ Accountability from Global Minority polluters
✊ Stand with us. Speak out. Because true climate action must protect people—not profit.
