💸ราคาเนื้อหมูและสินค้าอุปโภคแพงขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด ปัญหานี้ส่วนนึงเกิดจากโรคระบาดในหมูที่รัฐบาลไม่ยอมรับการมีอยู่ของโรคนี้ในประเทศไทยและการปกปิดข้อมูล นอกจากนี้ราคาหมูที่เพิ่งขึ้นยังส่งผลให้ราคาอาหารชนิดอื่นๆแพงขึ้นตามไปด้วยเป็นลูกโซ่ ส่งผลให้ประชาชนต้องแบกรับภาระราคาอาหารที่เพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
⚠️สิ่งที่รัฐบาลทำเพื่อแก้ปัญหานี้คือ การตรึงราคาด้วยการขอความร่วมมือและออกกฎหมายบังคับผู้ผลิตให้จำหน่ายในราคาที่รัฐกำหนดเท่านั้น ซึ่งการที่รัฐบาลผลักภาระไปที่ประชาชนเช่นนี้ขัดต่อพันธกรณีที่รัฐบาลไทยต้องมีความรับผิดชอบในการผลักดันนโยบายเพื่อส่งเสริมและคุ้มครองชาวนาและประชาชนที่ประกอบอาชีพในพื้นที่ชนบท
🚨ที่เลวร้ายยิ่งไปกว่านั้น การที่รัฐบาลกำลังพิจารณาที่จะเข้าร่วมใน "ข้อตกลงความครอบคลมและก้าวหน้าเพื่อหุ้นส่วนการค้าภาคพื้นเอเซีย-แปซิฟิก หรือ CPTPP" มีแนวโน้มที่จะทำให้ความมั่นคงทางอาหารของไทยยิ่งเลวร้ายขึ้นไปอีก ชาวนาจะต้องจ่ายเงินซื้อเมล็ดพันธุ์ใหม่ทุกครั้งเมื่อต้องการเพาะปลูก แบ่งปันและเก็บรักษาเมล็ดพันธุ์ตามที่ระบุไว้ในอนุสัญญาระหว่างประเทศที่มุ่งเน้นเรื่องการคุ้มครองพันธุ์พืชใหม่ การกระทำเช่นนี้จะส่งผลให้ราคาอาหารแพงขึ้นในขณะที่ความหลากหลายของอาหารลดลง
💪🏻มูลนิธิมนุษยะขอเรียกร้องให้รัฐบาลเห็นความสำคัญของผู้ผลิตและผู้บริโภคมากกว่าผู้ประกอบธุรกิจ #PeopleOverProfit และหยุดนโยบายที่ซ้ำเติมความทุกข์ของประชาชน รัฐบาลต้องปฏิบัติตามหน้าที่ของรัฐบาลภายใต้กฎหมายสิทธิมนุษยชนระหว่างประเทศโดยเฉพาะสิทธิในอาหาร ในยุคข้าวยากหมากแพงแบบนี้ รัฐบาลต้องการันตีว่าในน้ำของเราจะยังมีปลา🐟 ในนาจะยังมีข้าว🌾สำหรับประชาชนทุกคนที่อาศัยอยู่บนผืนแผ่นดินนี้!

💸The price of pork and consumer products are noticeably soaring. It is mainly due to the recent outbreak of African swine fever reported at several Thai pig farms BUT its existence in Thailand was cast aside and concealed by Thai authorities. The rising price of pork subsequently leads to the increasing price of other ingredients in a vicious domino effect. Who shoulders the burden of the surging food costs? The ordinary people!
⚠️ Solving the problem by forcing producers to control the price & threatening them with legal action if they don't, the Government shamelessly shifts its responsibilities to the citizens. The Thai government breaks its commitment to “implement measures to promote and protect the rights of peasants and other people working in rural areas”, based on a recommendation from Bolivia during its 2nd UPR cycle in 2016. During its last UPR in November 2021, it also committed to "Continue efforts at human-centred development." The Government is pulling back from its promises!
🚨 Worse still, the consideration of the Government to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific or CPTPP might contribute to a higher risk of food insecurity. Farmers have to buy the seeds every time they want to cultivate, share and save the seeds according to the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) of 1991. This will increase the price of the food while decreasing the variety of the food.

#PeopleOverProfit 💪🏻 Manushya Foundation calls on the Government to put small-scale producers and consumers over large business owners and stop its policies that inflict suffering on people in Thailand. It must start living up to the obligations before international human rights law, especially the right to food. At the time of the food crisis, the Government must ensure that Thailand is still a fertile “land of fish🐟 and rice🌾” for anyone living here!
