On 12 May 2025, our feminist allies at @tamtang_group, leaders of the safe abortion movement in Thailand, had their Facebook page suspended (facebook.com/SafeAbortionThailand) — simply for sharing government-approved information on how to legally access abortion pills.

👉 This isn’t just censorship — it’s digital repression and a form of Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV).

As decolonial and intersectional feminists from the Global Majority in Southeast Asia, we stand in Strength & Solidarity with Tamtang.

📣 Abortion is legal in Thailand. But Meta is applying conservative, Western-centric content moderation policies, silencing critical feminist voices — and policing our rights, our bodies, and our narratives.

❌ This is anti-feminist digital policing.❌ This is techno-colonialism.

At Manushya Foundation, we are supporting Tamtang’s appeal and demanding accountability from Meta.

🔥 We call on Meta to:✔️ Reinstate @tamtang_group’s Facebook page immediately✔️ End the censorship of safe abortion content in countries where it is legal✔️ Stop the imposition of foreign anti-feminist norms in the Global South✔️ Recognize how this censorship constitutes Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV)

🗣️ Tamtang is one of the only safe abortion accompaniment networks in Thailand. Shutting them down puts lives at risk.

📢 Enough is enough.📲 Tag @Meta and demand justice.

✊🏽 Stand with Tamtang. Defend digital rights. Smash digital patriarchy.
