🗓 Every year on 20 February, we commemorate the World Day of Social Justice to highlight the need to continue working towards a fair and just society that truly serves the needs of everyone, especially marginalized communities.
✊This year’s theme, “Renewed Commitment to Social Development and Social Justice,” celebrates progress in poverty reduction and education while confronting the barriers that remain. Despite these gains, inclusive growth is still hindered by structural inequalities.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁. To achieve a truly inclusive future, we must dismantle the structural inequalities that fuel today’s most critical movements:
🔥 Democratic Accountability: Strengthening institutional trust, especially in the midst of corruption-filled elections and rising pro-democracy movements across Southeast Asia.
🏳️🌈 Inclusion & Equity: Expanding social protection and legal recognition for marriage equality and LGBTQIA+ rights.
🌳 Land & Resource Sovereignty: Rectifying imbalances by securing land rights for Indigenous Peoples and forest communities.
🌱 Climate Justice: Bridging the gap between environmental policy and social justice to ensure a just transition for all.
⚖️ Social justice is the only way to achieve our needs and aspirations.
Unless we all believe in rallying behind it, a society where everyone enjoys a life of dignity will only ever be a dream.
✊💗 As a women-led decolonial and intersectional feminist human rights organization from the Global South, building feminist power to create a “a society for all” is at the heart of what we do. We will always promote human rights and protect fundamental freedoms, especially in regards to digital rights, corporate accountability and climate justice, protection of human rights defenders, and more!
