⚖️ On 8 September 2025, the Bangkok Criminal Court sentenced Member of Parliament 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮 “𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗲” 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 to 2 years and 8 months in prison.

👉 Her “crime”? Just a Facebook post urging for reforms of the monarchy and calling for justice for victims of enforced disappearance.

❌ This is part of a 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:

➡️ “Lookkate” was prosecuted under Section 112 of the Criminal Code (Lèse-Majesté) and the Computer Crimes Act (CCA) — laws repeatedly used to silence pro-democracy voices.

➡️ This is her second conviction under Section 112. In 2021, she was sentenced to 2 years but released on bail pending appeal, with the verdict now scheduled for this 30 September.

➡️ For nearly a year, she was subjected to electronic monitoring and a curfew.

❌ This time again, “Lookkate”, 𝗠𝗣 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆, was granted bail pending appeal, maintaining her parliamentary status. However, she is 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

#𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 💻 Section 112 and the CCA keep on being weaponized as tools of repression while elected politicians and women human rights defenders are criminalized for demanding accountability.

✊ As decolonial intersectional feminists, we at Manushya denounce this criminalization of free expression and stand in solidarity with “Lookkate” and all the activists unjustly prosecuted while 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲.

📢 Stand with Thai people. Share #WhatsHappeningInThailand and demand an end to Section 112 and the Computer Crimes Act.
