“Human rights cannot wait”: Yok reminds us about the urgency of achieving true democracy.

#Saveหยก ✊ At 15, Yok dedicates a significant part of her life to advocating for monarchy reforms, abolition of lèse-majesté law, the release of those detained pre-trial, and many other pro-democracy issues.


However, Yok’s efforts are often disregarded because of her age. “School should be her priority, not political activism,” “Too young to be involved in politics,” or “She is being manipulated by political actors for their own gains,” are among various forms of backlash Yok faces.



Yok does not agree that she should - or can - wait to start demanding a better future.


In Thailand’s current political climate, with the establishment actively wielding their power to tropple the people’s votes, it is more important now than ever that we take away from Yok’s spirits and recognize the urgency in fighting for freedom, social justice, and human rights. Without hopes, solidarity, and the collective determination to resist authoritarianism, true democracy will forever remain a dream.

#Saveหยก ✊🏻 แม้จะอายุเพียงแค่ 15 แต่หยกเป็นที่รู้จักในฐานะนักกิจกรรมที่มุ่งมั่นทุ่มเทขับเคลื่อนเพื่อการปฏิรูปสถาบัน การยกเลิก 112 การปล่อยตัวนักโทษการเมือง และประเด็นด้านประชาธิปไตยอื่นๆ


อย่างไรก็ตาม การเรียกร้องของหยกกลับถูกด้อยค่าอยู่บ่อยครั้งบนเหตุผลเรื่องอายุ สังคมมักบอกเธอว่า “ควรตั้งใจเรียน” หรือ “เด็กเกินไปที่จะยุ่งเรื่องการเมือง” บ้างก็แปะป้ายว่าหยก “ถูกชี้นำความคิด”


หยกกลับเห็นต่างไป เธอเชื่อว่าการต่อสู้เพื่ออนาคตที่ดีกว่าเป็นเรื่องที่รอไม่ได้





ในสถานการณ์การเมืองปัจจุบัน ที่กลุ่มอำนาจเก่าพยายามล้มผลการเลือกตั้ง และคงไว้ซึ่งระบอบเผด็จการ สปิริตแบบเดียวกับที่หยกมีคือสิ่งที่สังคมต้องการ เพราะการต่อสู้เพื่อเสรีภาพ ความเป็นธรรม และสิทธิมนุษนชน ประชาธิปไตยเต็มใบจะเกิดขึ้นได้เมื่อเราไม่ละทิ้งความหวัง และไม่ยอมแพ้ในการยืนหยัดต่อต้านเผด็จการ
