No More Violence Against Women And Girls! Respect & Protect Women's Rights!

Let’s Orange The World! On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we stand against gender-based violence and fight to protect the rights of women and girls around the world!

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is still one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world. It remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown that ensued intensified all types of violence against women and girls, in particular domestic violence.

The case of Nalinrat Tuthubthim shed the light on the taboo of sexual harassment in Thailand's education system. She was sexually abused in high school and now faces threats of legal action and has been receiving thousands of negative comments on social media after sharing her story during a pro-democracy protest. It proves that very little is done to tackle this issue, and that victim blaming and shaming is the only response sexual abuse survivors get.

We callon governments to double their efforts in protecting women and girls and eradicating gender-based violence. But ending violence against women is also everyone’s business, so it’s time for all of us to support and empower survivors and finally achieve gender equality, sustainable development, peace and more importantly, the fulfillment of women's rights!
