LANDOFWHY X MANUSHYA FOUNDATION
⚠️ #BREAKING ⚠️ Today, with LANDOFWHY X MANUSHYA FOUNDATION first collaboration, we want to remind Prayut, his military-backed government, and the Army that no one is above the Law and that our #FreedomOfExpression is protected! People’s voices come first!
👉 On 9 August 2021, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha officially revoked Regulation No. 29 he passed on 29 July under the 2005 Emergency Decree, using #COVID19 as a weapon to crack down on media freedom and censor the internet for any information “causing fear” even if it’s true! But Prayut was forced to repeal his unlawful Regulation No. 29 after the Thai Civil Court reminded him on 6 August 2021 that he’s not above the Law & Constitution! He too must respect #HumanRights and the People! The Civil Court, petitioned by media organizations, suspended Regulation No. 29 and ruled That Prayut’s new #FakeNews Regulation No. 29 is violating Thailand’s Constitution and has no legal grounds. Prayut cannot just force people into silence and censor the internet!
👉 On 4 August 2021, Manushya Foundation and members of the ASEAN Regional Coalition to #StopDigitalDictatorship issued a Joint Statement calling on the Thai military-backed government to repeal Regulation No. 29 as it contravenes with international human rights standards (in particular, Article 19 upholding Freedom of Speech under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights & the International Covenant on Civil & Political Rights, ICCPR).
✊🏼 We will keep telling the World #WhatsHappeningInThailand!
#PrayutGetOut 👉 It’s time you resign, we need peace and democracy back in the country!
