Understanding violence, militarisation, and the struggle for self-determination

#FreePatani ✊ On this International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief, we honour those whose lives have been altered by conflict in Thailand’s Deep South.

For over two decades, the region has endured protracted violence and militarisation, a burden borne heavily by local communities and women sustaining life amid crisis. But reducing Patani to a narrative of “religious conflict” misses the roots of Patani people’s ongoing struggle for self-determination. A struggle against decades of forced assimilation, state militarisation, and impunity.

👉 Swipe through to understand what is happening in Thailand’s Deep South and why Patani’s struggle is about more than religion.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Patani and their ongoing struggle for dignity, self-determination, and ultimately, liberation. ✊

Interesting perspective on Patani’s moto x3m history, identity, and struggle for self-determination. It’s important to understand the issue from multiple perspectives rather than reducing it to religion alone. Thanks for sharing!
