Human Rights: The Rise of Humanity (Event)

#WhatsHappeningInThailand Thailand UPR III 2021 is here and it's time to hold our Government accountable for human rights abuses it committed and let commit! ✊🏽

🗣️ On this occasion, join us at our event "Human Rights: The Rise of Humanity" taking place on Wednesday 10 November at Aboutwork Café (20 Sukhumvit Soi 3) in Bangkok, from 13:00 to 18:30 ICT!

We will Live Webcast the UPR review taking place at the same time at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, during which the Thai Government will be receiving Recommendations by UN Member States to address rights violations on the ground: from violations to freedom of expression and assembly, arbitrary arrests and detentions, judicial harassment of human rights defenders, torture, enforced disappearances, poverty, profit over people and our planet, racial discrimination against Isaan people and indigenous peoples, injustice faced by children, LGBTIQ+ people, migrant workers, refugees and much more… Enough is Enough! The World has been watching and it’s time for the military-backed government to face the truth!

During our event, Thai civil society and human rights organizations will also present front-line testimonies on the human rights situation in Thailand, and together will unpack recommendations the Thai Government will receive during the UPR review and discuss their follow-up.

Manushya Foundation will be represented by Nada Chaiyajit, our Human Rights Campaign Advisor and prominent LGBTIQ+ rights Activist who will discuss SOGIESC issues, as well as business and human rights in Thailand.

📍 Reminder: The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a comprehensive review of countries' human rights record where they are held accountable for their human rights violations in front of delegations from the whole world. Each UN Member State, individual country, can make recommendations to Thailand to improve the human rights situation on the ground. The Thai government will accept or note those.

Join us for the UPR Live Webcast! It starts at 13:00 ICT and for those who cannot make it in person, you will also be able to join us online via Facebook Live here!
