On the road to a people-led Thailand’s #UPR IV, care is at the center of our movement-building strategy ✊ That’s why wellbeing is a signature part of every Manushya workshop!

At our recent UPR Capacity & Movement-Building Workshop in Chiang Mai, we closed the year by holding space for collective care through decolonial, community-rooted wellbeing practices.

Activists from across Northern Thailand were invited to rest and recharge through:

🌿 Herbal body soaks

🤲 Traditional folk massage using local wooden tools

🔮 Tarot card readings & Divination board

🪷 Siamese fortune sticks (Esiimsi)

🎶 Kalimba (thumb piano) playing

🎨 Mandala colouring for reflection and rest

🧵 Several participants also proudly showcased their local communities’ crafts

Defenders across struggles are organising within increasingly authoritarian and patriarchal systems designed to exhaust us. Choosing care, especially care rooted in local wisdom, is an act of resistance.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to LBTQ Wellbeing for lovingly leading these sessions and reinforcing Manushya’s unwavering belief that sustainable movements are built with care at their core.
