#WorldDayofSocialJustice: “It is in your hands to make of our world a better one for all”
“It is in your hands to make of our world a better one for all” - Nelson Mandela
🗓 Every year on February 20, we commemorate World Day of Social Justice to highlight the need to continue working towards a fair and just society that truly serves the needs of everyone, especially marginalized communities.
🤝 This year’s theme, “Overcoming Barriers and Unleashing Opportunities for Social Justice," encourages us to address poverty, inequalities, and social tensions through building a coalition and forging dialogues between different stakeholders.
💪🏻 Discrimination, oppression, and unfair distribution of resources have been the sources of our plights for several decades, and they have yet to be dealt with. Below are some of the most critical social movements in recent years that sprang from long-standing problematic power relations:
🇲🇲🇹🇭🇹🇼🇭🇰 Pro-democracy demonstrations in Thailand, Myanmar, Taiwan, and Hong Kong
🧕 Women’s choice not to wear a hijab in Iran
🏳️🌈 Marriage equality and transgender rights
🌳 Indigenous land rights
💨 Climate justice uprising
🏥 Abortion rights
⚖️ Social justice is the only way to achieve our needs and aspirations. Unless we all believe in rallying behind it, a society where everyone enjoys a life of dignity will only ever be a dream.
#WeAreManushyan ♾️ Equal Human Beings
✊💗 As a Women-led Intersectional Feminist Human Rights Organization from the Global South, we reinforce the power of Human Beings to fight for Human Rights, Equality & Justice! Creating “a society for all” is at the heart of what we do. We will always promote human rights and protect fundamental freedoms, in regards to digital rights, corporate accountability and climate justice, protection of human rights defenders, and more!
