How We Tell the World about #WhatsHappeningInThailand

#WhatsHappeningInThailand #VoicesOfThailand 🚨 Thailand is going to be reviewed on its human rights record in November 2021 by the United Nations - and it's an occasion that only happens every five years. Help us tell the world about #WhatsHappeningInThailand to put pressure on the Thai government to do better!

Only when you listen to people on the ground, a real change can happen! That's why we at Manushya Foundation are constantly in touch with grassroots communities: listening to their stories, working with them to document rights violations they face and amplifying their voices wherever we can do so that they can receive justice! But how can we tell the whole world about #WhatsHappeningInThailand?

📍In November 2021, Thailand will undergo its 3rd Universal Period Review (UPR) - a thorough review of its human rights record where it will be held accountable for its human rights violations in front of delegations from the whole world. Each UN Member States, individual country, can make recommendations, and Thailand will accept or reject.

But far too often countries concentrate on just a few topics, leaving the most marginalised communities out of the picture instead of supporting them with concrete and actionable recommendations that have the potential to pressure the Thai government.

✊🏼 That's why Manushya Foundation liaised with communities and civil society organisations from across the country to develop 24 factsheets to inform the diplomatic community about the most pressing human rights issues that deserve attention. We ensured that no one is left behind and that concerns of the most marginalised groups are addressed - from pro-democracy protesters to indigenous women, to LGBTIQ+ youth 🏳️‍🌈

Between now and 10th November, we will be presenting each of the 24 topics on our social media. Help us have the #VoicesofThailand heard!

👉🏼 Put pressure on your Government to make recommendations to Thailand on a wide range of topics.
