Manushya Foundation condemns in the strongest terms Israel's designation of 6 leading Palestinian human rights organisations as 'terrorist organisations'. Join us in the Global Day of Action to support these courageous activists and human rights defenders!
⚠️ We stand in solidarity with the 6 Palestinian organisations that have become victims of the latest efforts by the Israeli government to silence dissent and create a smokescreen to disguise its human rights violations against the Palestinian people. For years, these 6 organisations have been legitimately shedding light on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, bringing the grievances of the ordinary people to the attention of international community and helping those in need.
The 6 organisations facing the latest ban are Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, Al-Haq Law in the Service of Man (Al-Haq), Bisan Center for Research and Development, Defense for Children International-Palestine (DCI-P), the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), and the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC)
🚫 The designation is in line with the Israeli anti-terrorism legislation which means that staff of the concerned organisations is now at risk of raids, confiscation of property and materials, closure of bank accounts, arrest of staff members, and closure of their offices.
What is Israel so desperately trying to hide to portray legitimate human rights workers as criminals?! After years of crimes against the Palestinian population, the Israeli government is more and more exposed to voices from the Palestinian civil society and the global community calling for an end to human rights abuses. And Israel's response? Criminalize those who tell the truth to the world!
UN human rights experts issued a joint statement on 25 October, condemning Israel's actions and calling upon the international community to demand Israel to reverse them: “These civil society organisations are the canaries in the human rights coalmine, alerting us to the patterns of violations, reminding the international community of its obligations to ensure accountability, and providing voices for those who have none,” the experts said.
