#WorldHumanitarianDay ๐ We are tired of performative solidarity.
Celebrating the courage of humanitarian aid workers without confronting the colonial violence that killed them, and who made those killings possible, is an insult to their lives. ๐ต๐ธ In less than three years, at least 595 aid workers have been killed in Gaza, the highest toll ever recorded in a single crisis. 189 were women. The overwhelming majority were Palestinians serving their own communities while surviving the same bombardment, forced displacement, hunger, and grief.

Thailand, Southeast Asiaโs main hub for transnational repression, is about to hand dictators an even faster shortcut to hunt down their critics.
โ๏ธ On 14 July, Thailandโs Cabinet greenlit a draft deportation regulation designed to expel foreign nationals โwithout delayโ and without legal protections. But when speed replaces due process, lives of human rights defenders are destroyed. As Manushya Foundationโs Founder Emilie Palamy Pradichit reminds us: โLaws do not choose between protection and punishment; people do.โ The Thai government is making a choice: ๐๐๐ก๐ก ๐๐ฉ ๐ช๐ฅ๐๐ค๐ก๐ ๐๐ฉ๐จ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ก๐๐๐๐ก ๐๏ฟฝ

Free Bai Zhaodong and Zhou Junyi! โ Thailand, stop playing puppet to China's transnational repression.
An authoritarian superpower seeking to silence its critics abroad needs to look no further than Thailand for a model partner-in-transnational repression. ๐น๐ญ๐ค๐จ๐ณ Right now, Chinese human rights defenders and UNHCR-recognised refugees Bai Zhaodong and Zhou Junyi remain detained in Bangkok, within armโs reach of the regime they fled. Their forced return will expose them to torture and enforced disappearance. Thailand has a choice: protect human rights defenders, or cement it

๐ฟ RADICAL SELF-CARE: Rest is part of the resistance
The fight for justice can be long. Some changes may take years, even generations. But if we want to stay in the movement for the long run, we need to care for ourselves along the way. ๐ฉท So, which wellbeing activity are you choosing today? Drop your emoji in the comments and tag a fellow activist who deserves a moment of care, too! ๐ซถ As Audre Lorde reminds us, caring for ourselves is not self-indulgence but an act of political warfare. Rest is not giving up. The movement nee

Mass murderers not welcome! Condemning dictator Min Aung Hlaing's official visit to Thailand and quest for legitimacy
Today, Thailand rolled out the red carpet for Min Aung Hlaing, architect of Myanmarโs 2021 coup and ICC-wanted war criminal, who seeks international legitimacy for his โpresidencyโ following military-engineered sham elections in April. โ ๏ธ While millions in Myanmar are bombed, jailed, and driven from their homes under Min Aung Hlaingโs regime, Thailand rewards their oppressor with official honours and business forums. Even worse, Thai authorities are actively colluding in tran

World Day Against Trafficking In Persons: How the marginalized are lured into Southeast Asia's scam economy, then punished for surviving.
This yearโs UN theme, โTrapped Behind the Scam,โ asks the world to look at the people forced into online fraud. But we must also ask: what trapped them there, and who keeps profiting? Across Southeast Asia, trafficking networks weaponise marginalised communitiesโ need for dignified work. From Thailand serving as a key transit route ๐น๐ญ to Laosโs Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone ๐ฑ๐ฆ becoming a hub for forced criminality, punitive borders and neoliberal economic policies

Day 2 of our UPR IV Strategic Advocacy Workshop ๐บ๐ณ๐น๐ญ: Engaging diplomats with strategy and heart
The second day of our workshop, "From Evidence to Action: Strategic Advocacy for the UPR IV & ICCPR Reviews of Thailand", was all about shifting power. We moved from drafting factsheets to gearing up frontline human rights defenders to engage directly with diplomats. Best Chitsanupong Nithiwana, Founder of Young Pride Foundation and trans woman human rights defender, put it best about activists coming together from across Thailand: โFor too long, access to diplomats has been

Freedom of association without class struggle is just a country club membership.
We just submitted comments on the UN's draft General Comment No. 38 on Article 22 of ICCPR (Right to Freedom of Association) This freedom was never a gift handed down by benevolent states. If anything, it was won in the streets, with the blood and sweat of workers who were fighting for equal treatment and decent wages. ๐บ๐ณ We submitted comments on the UN's draft General Comment No. 38 on Article 22 of ICCPR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights). Meta backed down on 10 July, but only on this one specific feature as a form of PR damage control whilst Muse Image itself is still rolling out and is very much alive across Meta AI. Meta did not indicate whether it will be reintroduced again in the futur

Why feminist movements will fail without disability justice #DisabilityPrideMonth ๐โ
