#SaveThaiRestaurants - The Thai Government must compensate people impacted by the semi-lockdown!

The Thai Government has announced a new semi-lockdown for 30 days in 10 Provinces, including in Bangkok, to start tomorrow on 28 June. It will severely impact the #Food & #Beverage Industry; our #FreedomOfAssembly (gatherings of 20+ people are forbidden, so no more protests); and over 80,000 construction workers whose camps are being sealed off for 30 days!!

No dine-in at restaurants is allowed … while everything else remains open, such as malls, hair, spas, etc. What’s the logic? Many restaurants and in particular small restaurants have closed because of the impact of #COVID19 and the lack of measures from the government to support them. This is a shame for the Thai government not to care about its own people… By letting the restaurant industry die, the government is not respecting their fundamental #RightToWork - #LabourRights of not only the owners but also employees.

This illustration by ไข่แมว (Khaimaew) really shows the realities on the ground for small business owners and how Prime Minister #Prayut is heartless • CRUEL • and killing small restaurants little by little with his lack of support to them. Is this how we gonna stop the pandemic? The super, not effective government must COMPENSATE people who will be affected and must get more vaccines inside #Thailand !

  • What will happen to all the Aunties & Uncles cooking delicious food for us at so affordable prices?

  • How will they survive these 30 days of no dine-in?

  • How can WE all help them?

From our side, as individuals, we will go out today to eat at #restaurants and will order food as much as we can during these 30 days… What was such a vibrant industry will no longer be… let’s all try to help them as a collective!

** The 10 Provinces impacted by the semi-lockdown announcement are Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, and Songkhla.
